This book is a poignant look at the author's struggles with a bad marriage over many years. It also provides wonderful glimpses into her life lived in other cultures than the one in which she was raised. For me, the main lesson to learn here is that it is OK to not be perfect and to reach out when inside you are crying for help. The loneliness that permeates this story is sad. There is no reason we need to suffer alone when things happen to us. Another fascinating learning has to do with the many cultures the author has experienced in her life. It is always good to realize there are people out there who are very different than we are and that we have much to learn from them.
I think this book can be a real help to those who are struggling and an eye-opener for those who are not.
This book made me laugh, cry, and get mad. But it also shows us that we can live through the tough times and find peace and joy in many things. This is by no means a depressing story - rather a triumph over the hard knocks of living our lives. The book was a real page turner - I could hardly put it down. Bravo to Ms. Fuller for having the courage to tell her story.

Working in Nicaragua at age 19 and after a conversation with a Catholic priest willing to give his life to fight for justice, she asks herself What am I willing to die for? This question begins a life and faith journey expressed as art, social conscience, and service to others.
The diaries include personal and professional revelations from work as a student in Nicaragua, Japan and England to mission work in Jamaica, Fiji, South Africa and New Zealand. The touching chronicle of a woman’s life as she adjusts to change and moves forward in hope and faith despite the sometimes sad imperfections of life.
